About Dream Fund

At Dream Fund, we are redefining the path to homeownership for first-time buyers. We provide a secure, automated platform that solves the biggest hurdle in real estate: the down payment gap. Our platform lets buyers collect gifts from family, friends, and community networks into deposit accounts opened in the buyer’s own name at our bank partner.

More than a savings tool, Dreamfund is critical compliance infrastructure, automatically generating HUD, FHA, and GSE-compliant gift letters and audit trails that keep buyers mortgage-ready. We are a fast-moving, AI-driven startup partnering with mortgage lenders, real estate agents, and community institutions to democratize access to homeownership.

The role

We are seeking a Legal Advisor with banking and regulatory depth to help us build a legal foundation solid enough to carry a platform that first-time homebuyers and their families rely on.

You will work closely with our executive team to review and strengthen the legal and regulatory structure behind our bank partnership, our compliance programs, and our partner and vendor agreements.

What you will advise on

  • Banking and BaaS legal structuring. Advising on the legal architecture of our bank partnership and banking-as-a-service relationships.
  • State money transmission licensing analysis. Assessing licensing exposure and positioning across the states we operate in.
  • BSA/AML, KYC, and OFAC program review. Evaluating the legal sufficiency of our anti-money-laundering, know-your-customer, and sanctions-screening programs, and flagging UDAAP risk.
  • RESPA, fair lending, and gift-letter documentation. Reviewing our HUD/FHA/GSE gift-letter documentation standards against RESPA and fair lending requirements.
  • Partner and vendor contracts. Reviewing and negotiating agreements with our sponsor bank, vendors, and distribution partners.
  • Data privacy. Advising on GLBA and multi-state data privacy obligations as we scale.

What we are looking for

Banking and regulatory depth

A JD with hands-on familiarity across the OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, CFPB, and FinCEN.

Drafting and redlining

Hands-on drafting and redlining experience. We need a lawyer who marks up documents, not one who issues opinions only.

Regulatory fluency

Fluency across BSA/AML, UDAAP, and RESPA, and the judgment to spot where they intersect.

Startup-lean mindset

Comfortable operating lean in a pre-launch, seed-stage environment where scope shifts fast.

Compensation

This is an equity-compensated advisory role until the successful close of our current fundraising round, at which point compensation structure will be revisited. In exchange: a ground-floor seat helping build the legal foundation for a startup working to close the racial and generational wealth gap through homeownership.
